Patrick Kunzli
Hello, my name is Patrick Kunzli. I'm 16 years old and currently living in Colombia. My father is Swiss, while my mother is Colombian. In 2023, I had the great chance of living in Switzerland as an exchange student, which broadened my perspective and deepened my appreciation for different cultures.
Upon returning to Colombia, I became more cognizant of the different challenges my country faced, especially in areas of financial literacy. I got involved with Make-A-Wish through which I was working on a project with a 9-year-old child, and that really kindled the fire in me for working with young people, and I knew I wanted to make a difference by helping them understand the importance of financial education.
This led me to the creation of a project of teaching the basics of finance to children. I have seen how the lack of financial education affects people's lives in Colombia, where almost 90% of families have problems with savings, debt, and decision-making about money. I believe that teaching kids the value of money will help them differentiate between needs and wants, thus enabling them to make better financial decisions that will improve their quality of life.
I want to equip the children with these basic skills, which I hope will be a long-lasting change for their future and my country's future.
